Last week I had the pleasure and privilege of photographing a citizenship ceremony at The Cultural Centre on behalf of the Institute for Canadian Citizenship. It was a remarkable morning: unique, and yet I couldn’t help but see some similarities to weddings.
From the lil’ guy singing Despacito to the young woman who used her moment at the mic to call out the racism and sanitized history she has encountered right here in Canada; from the thrilled dads to the quietly emotional seniors… 51 people became Canadians on this day, and I think we are very lucky to have them.
